COLLEGE WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL(CWDC)

About CWDC

As per the guidelines of the Vice-Chancellor of University of Mumbai, the College has introduced a Women’s Development Cell. The main objective of the cell is to look into the grievances of the women, both staff members (teaching and non-teaching) and students, and provide guidance and help them.

Activities

1. Workshop on Self Defence Techniques

A one day workshop on “Self Defence Techniques” was organised by the College Women Development Cell on 18th September, 2019 in the College auditorium. The aim of the workshop was to teach various techniques in self defence against physical attack from anti-social elements. The workshop was inaugurated by the Principal Dr. B.S Ajitkumar, and attended by Sr. Vice Principal Mrs. Kavita Sharma, Convenor of CWDC and all members of the Cell. The workshop commenced with felicitation of Mr. Sridharan, Master Trainer by the Principal. Mr.Sridharan, a well-known Trainer in Judo Karate and National Gold medalist in Grand Championship addressed the students that self- defence has become necessary in present times for each individual. Therefore, he emphasized that students should learn skills to defend themselves from unpredictable vulnerabilities and to be proactive. The team members of the workshop presented a demo for self defence to the students. The demonstration was by Mr. Nihal Hegde, Mr. Abhiraaj Jyadav and Ms. Shashwati Prabhu. They showcased different forms of Judo and Karate

The Workshop was attended by first year students of different streams. The trainer and the team members encouraged students to perform the tricks. The students enjoyed the session. The workshop was well appreciated by one and all and had a positive feedback.


2. Workshop on 'Menstrual Health and Hygiene'

A second workshop was organized by the College Women Development Cell on “Menstrual Health and Hygiene” on 31st August 2019. The aim of the workshop was to spread awareness among the girls and the boys about the problems faced by women during menstruation. The Workshop was conducted by Ms. Nehali Jain and her team. The team emphasised on the sustainable Menstruation cycle by using sanitary napkins made of cloth instead of synthetics. The Workshop was attended in large numbers.
