VPM's R.Z. Shah College of Arts, Commerce and Science Library is on the Fourth floor of the college building. It plays a vital role in teaching-learning process. It is open to all the students having a valid college identity card. The library is open between 8.00 a.m.to 5.30 p.m. Throughout the year. Library fulfills the need of faculty and students by providing services with text books, reference books and journals. Library conducts various literary activities for the development of students.


Rules and Regulations
  • Every student entering in the library should have a valid College Identity Card. It should be produced as and when demanded by the Library Staff.
  • Complete silence and discipline must be maintained in the Library.
  • Students should deposit their bags (including plastic bags) at the baggage counter. They are advised to carry their valuables with them. The Library will not be responsible for the loss of any student’s property.
  • Eatables, Audio-Visual device, Mobile phones, and other equipments & their use is strictly prohibited.
  • Students are required to handle the books and reading materials very carefully. Marking Library books with pencil or ink, tearing the pages or spoiling the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously.
  • Textbooks, reference books and journals will be issued to the students against Reading Room Card. Students are not allowed to take them out of Libray.
  • If mutilated or lost, the borrower will have to replace the book with a new copy or pay the amount of the current price along with processing charge of Rs. 50/- and the overdue charges if any.
  • In case of late return of books, students will have to pay a fine of Rs.1/- per day for the first week and Rs. 4/- per day in subsequent weeks . While charging the fine, holidays will be counted.
  • If the Library cards are lost, the Librarian should be informed immediately. In genuine cases a duplicate set may be issued on payment of Rs.50/- for Home Issue Card and Rs. 25/- for Reading Room Card. And for that an application should be made to the Principal.
  • If I-Card is lost it should be reported to the Librarian in writing. Student must be register FIR in the nearest Police station and a copy of the same should be submitted along with the form for issuing the duplicate Identity Card. A duplicate I-Card will be issued on payment of Rs.100/-.

Services:

Library Services and Facilities : – Library will be open from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm throughout the year except on public holidays, Sunday and during vacations.

1. Home Issue:- Students and Teachers can borrow books for home lending in between 9.30 am to 5.00 pm. on all working days of the week.

2. Reference Service:The library staff assists the readers in finding their relevant books. Readers are also provided with relevant documents, which are of their interest. Question Paper sets are provided for reference as well as photocopying. Project and Syllabus of all classes are available for reference.

3.Current Awareness Service: List of content pages of the Periodicals/Magazines is given to the readers on demand. Library is providing Newspaper Clipping Service.

4.Computerization of the Library: The computerization of the library is in the process. The Library is using SOUL 2.0 Software developed by INFLIBNET. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) provides access to the bibliographic database.

5.Internet Facility: The library provides Internet browsing facility to Students and Teachers of the college.

6.Photocopy Facility: The library possesses a rich collection of reference and rare books that cannot be loaned out for home reading. Readers can get a part of those documents Xeroxed at the rate of Re.1 page.

7.Book Bank: For one academic year at a time, sets of books are given to the deserving students from the Book Bank Scheme of the Library.

8.Gold Card Facility: We provide the Gold Card Facility: Gold card is an extra library card given to students who have secured the first 2 ranks in every.

9.Issue of Identity Cards: Identity cards are issued to the students through the library
